Die BKW FMB Energie AG (BKW) betreibt auf dem Dach des STADE ED SUISSE seit Mai 2005 das weltweit grösste stadionintegrierte Sonnenkraftwerk. Auf einer Dachfläche von 12'000 m2 sind rund 7000 Solarpanels aus polykristallinem Silizium mit einem Wirkungsgrad von 15% des japanischen Herstellers Kyocera installiert. Deren Leistung beträgt bei optimaler Sonneneinstrahlung 1300 Kilowatt. Über das ganze Jahr produziert das Sonnenkraftwerk rund 1'200'000 kWh Stunden Strom, genug um den Jahresbedarf an Strom von 400 Haushaltungen zu decken.
